NTPC Sets September 2 as Record Date for ₹3.50 Final Dividend, Today Last Day to Buy
Investors have until the end of today to purchase NTPC shares to be eligible for the company's final dividend for the financial year 2025-26. The power sector PSU has fixed September 2, 2026, as the record date, meaning shares must be bought at least one trading day prior under the T+1 settlement norm to qualify for the payout.
NTPC's board has recommended a final dividend of ₹3.50 per share on the face value of ₹10 each, as disclosed in its exchange filing. The company confirmed the record date in a BSE notification, stating it is for ascertaining entitlement of members to the dividend.
According to Trendlyne data, NTPC has declared 48 dividends since February 2005, and the stock currently carries a dividend yield of 2.72%. The dividend is part of the company's distribution of profits for FY26.
In the near term, NTPC's share price has shown weakness, declining approximately 4% over the past week and 7% in the past month. The stock is down nearly 4% year-to-date in 2026. However, over a five-year horizon, returns stand at around 183%.
The stock traded between a 52-week low of ₹315.55 on December 9, 2025, and a high of ₹414.40 on April 27, 2026.
Separately, NTPC reported strong Q1FY27 (Q1FY26 as per company's FY naming) results on July 24, with standalone net profit rising 11.9% year-on-year to ₹5,342.4 crore. Revenue increased 3% to ₹43,832 crore, while EBITDA jumped 22.8% to ₹12,629 crore, improving the EBITDA margin to 28.8% from 24.2% in the year-ago quarter.
The company's board has also approved, subject to shareholder consent, a plan to raise up to ₹12,000 crore via non-convertible debentures (NCDs) through private placement in one or more tranches. The NCDs may be secured or unsecured, taxable or tax-free, and issued in up to 12 series, with the programme valid for one year or until the next AGM in FY28, whichever comes earlier.
Terms such as coupon rate, tenor, and listing details will be finalised at the time of each tranche issuance.
