Kotak Securities Expert Names TCS, Axis Bank and Lodha as Short-Term Picks
The Indian stock market ended lower for the third straight session on Wednesday, 1 October, with the Nifty 50 closing at 22,620, nearly 6% down for September and marking a second straight monthly decline. Technical analysis showed a bearish daily candle and lower-top formation on intraday charts, keeping the near-term outlook negative.
Amol Athawale, VP of Technical Research at Kotak Securities, identified 22,600–22,550 as a crucial support zone for day traders. He said holding above this range could trigger a rebound toward 22,750–22,800, while a break below 22,550 might intensify selling pressure and push the index toward 22,400–22,350. Athawale recommended level-based trading due to the non-directional intraday outlook.
On TCS, Athawale noted the stock had been in a prolonged downtrend and is now in oversold territory. Chart texture and RSI suggest a likely rebound from current levels. For positional traders, ₹1,980 is the decisive level; holding above it could see the stock rise toward ₹2,200, while a close below ₹1,980 may prompt an exit from long positions.
Axis Bank, according to Athawale, has entered an accumulation phase after a downward trend, trading within a defined range on the daily chart. Recent bullish activity indicates improving strength and rising buying interest. As long as the stock stays above ₹1,180 support, the reversal trend may continue, with potential upside toward ₹1,310 in the near term.
Lodha Developers witnessed a short-term correction after a recent upmove but found support at the retracement zone and rebounded, signalling a steady recovery. Athawale said the formation suggests a revival of the uptrend. He highlighted ₹1,080 as the key support level; holding above it could allow the uptrend to continue toward ₹1,200.
